Why Did I Start This Blog?

I started investing and reaching for financial freedom when I was 19. By 25, I was married. I had my child at 26 and watched as my life’s savings disappeared. The three of us moved in with my parents after we were evicted from our apartment (before my child turned 1).

By 28, my (now ex) husband and I separated. I had $4,000 in debt, no savings, and was working part-time earning $12,000 a year.Clearly something needed to change…

I tried to better my financial situation but I felt help back. It wasn’t until I address my emotional well being that I could start making progress on my goals.

Four years after my separation and subsequent divorce, I was worth $20,000 and made about $55,000 the previous year.

While I’ve come a long way, I still have a long way to go. But I’ve learned, it’s often what we aren’t addressing or acknowledging that holds us back from what we want to achieve.

And it is wasn’t for the wonderful people in my life, I would not have made it this far. Let’s learn from one another as we reach for the starts… or at least strive to be in a better position tomorrow than we are today.

I firmly believe we will all achieve more working together then competing with each other. It is my hope that this can be a community filled with inspiration, encouragement, and sound advice to help others on their path to success… whatever that looks like for them.

A Little About Me

I have a B.S. in Business Administration from Towson University. My concentration in Business School was finance (hence why I was investing so young).

Being a mother is my pride and joy, but also can make reaching for my goals a little more complicated. Good intentions are often met with waking up in the middle of the night with a sick child or running around like a chicken with my head cut off and forgetting what I was trying to do. So if you haven’t made as much progress as you wanted, for whatever reason, there is no judgement from me.

Small things done everyday turn into big things accomplished over time. That’s why you will see me talk about habits. If I can work on a goal 5 minutes a day, I can feel good knowing I did something that I working towards.

More than anything, I hope you allow me to join you on your journey in life. It’s better together.
